Hollowcore
Techspan Hollowcore units are manufactured to BS8110: Part 1. Their low self weight and rapid construction offers the designer a flexible and economic answer to flooring situations.

From supply only to a complete structural floor our Client need only select those elements that meet his requirements.

When all the hollowcore units are in place and lined up, the joints between the units are to be grouted with either a 3:1 sand / cement mix or C30 concrete with 10mm aggregate.

TECHNICAL
Units are produced on a long line method and come in a range of depths from 100mm to 250mm as shown on the span load table.

The standard section is suitable for a 'moderate' exposure condition as defined in BS8110.

FINISHES
Concrete surface finish to soffit is a Type A finish as described in clause 6,10.3 of BS8110: 1985.

Where a plaster finish is intended it may be necessary to use a bonding agent in accordance with the manufactures instructions.

Suspended ceilings are the preferred choice when hollowcore units are used. The soffits are not suitable to be painted without finishes being applied.

Units may accumulate water within the cores due to exposure during the construction programme. The General Contractor should drill weep holes as necessary, or keep them clear where they are provided during manufacture.
